DAVIS is a Welsh surname, and the family is among the most
numerous in England and Wales due to the many variations of the name. The
original name was “David” which means well-beloved and was popular in Biblical
days and a favorite among the Scottish kings.
My early DAVIS family members migrated from Wales, England, and
Scotland. Most landed near Portsmouth,
Virginia and eventually settled in southern Granville County, NC.
